Personal Information

I grew up in Maroa, a small town in the middle of Illinois, knowing nothing about the Federal Contracting World. Since then, I have become a passionate Federal Contractor focused on both Physical and Cyber Security for our Nation’s Facilities and Systems. After graduating from High School in 2007, I earned a position as an assembler, building wind turbines in Clinton, Illinois. I quickly advanced and became Lead-Man, a position I held for about one year before realizing I was looking for a greater challenge.

I moved to Denver, Colorado in 2011 to be closer to my brother and begin my career in the Security Industry with Security Install Solutions, Inc. (SIS). At SIS, I learned that not only did I have enthusiasm for the Security Industry, but I was passionate about providing Security Systems for the Federal Government. At SIS, I worked on numerous Federal Contracts, upgrading or installing their Physical Access Control Systems (PACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Video Surveillance Systems (VSS), and Video Intercom Systems (VIS) among other Electronic Security System components including electrified locking hardware, GSA containers, and turnstiles. Between 2011 and 2016, I worked in over 43 Federal facilities in over eight different States including the GSA Headquarters in The District of Columbia and found the work for our government to be very fulfilling.

In 2016, I was offered the unique opportunity of managing the Physical Security for the detainee camps in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (GTMO), as a Department of Defense Contractor for the United States Army with Veritiss, LLC. While in GTMO, I was the lead for all the Physical Security Systems in all the GTMO detainee camps.

When I moved back to the States in 2017, I engineered, and managed Security System Installation Projects for schools, prisons, gas stations, churches, museums, airport hangers, stadiums, hotels, and hospitals while working for Security Equipment Incorporated in Kansas City, KS.

Near the end of 2017, I returned to Federal Contracting and Small Business (SB), SIS, to open their first remote branch in the Northwest Region in Seattle, WA—managing all Company Operations throughout Washington, Alaska, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas. I served as the Northwest Regional Manager for SIS until 2021 when I moved back to Colorado and was promoted to the Director of Business Operations.

Throughout my career at SIS, I became an expert in the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and Federal Personal Identity Verification System (FIPS) Standards, while also becoming an Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) Physical Access Control Management (PACS)-Certified System Engineer (CSEIP). I also earned my CompTIA Security+ Certification, attesting competency in International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17024 Standards and DoD Directive 8140/8570.01-M, while also becoming a certified engineer and installer in several IDS, VSS, and HSPD-12/FIPS-compliant Physical Access Control System (PACS) Vendors’ Systems including Gallagher, Lenel, Brivo, DMP, and Avigilon, among others.

Prior to becoming the Director of Business Operations at SIS, and while performing the Role of the Northwest Regional Manager, Iwas solely responsible for all Business Operations in the Region. My Role included everything from identifying Office Locations; applying for—and receiving—Company Licenses/Certifications in the Region; hiring and managing employees in the Region; and acting as the Business Development Director, to serving as the Capture and Proposal Lead to the Lead Installer and Project Manager for all the Region’s Projects. I was responsible for identifying and qualifying all the Region’s potential Opportunities and making contacts throughout the Federal Government and with Prime and Subcontractors. Post qualifying an Opportunity, I acted as the Capture Manager, determining Win-Themes, Win-Strategies, Customer Hot-Buttons, making connections with the Prospective Customer(s) and subcontractors, investigating and understanding Customer needs, shaping Opportunities’ Scope(s) of Work (SOW), evaluating potential competitors, and determining Price-to-Win Strategies. Additionally, I performed all Site Surveys for the Region, to include designing and engineering an HSPD-12/FIPS compliant PACS also to include IDS and VSS, then presenting it to the Customer in the form of a Proposal and Oral Presentation. I quoted and sold the aforementioned, and other systems. Post-win, I was responsible for managing all Projects in the Region as the Designated Project Manager and Quality Control Manager. Additionally, I was responsible for all the Northwest Region Operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, managing project budgets, and working with the Customers (primarily the General Services Administration (GSA), United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and the United States Coast Guard USCG)) to test the installed systems and troubleshoot any issues.

As the Director of Business Operations across the Company as a whole, I was the first line report to the President of the Company. In this Role, I was responsible for identifying needs for processes, creating processes, and ensuring smooth process implementation; evaluating financials and determining Company-wide pricing and cost strategy and other financial strategies; presenting options for re-organizing the Company’s structure for current Operations and future growth; managing the entire Operations Team, overseeing the Project Management Leaders for all Regions; identifying needs in relation to Human Resource Management, including making hiring and termination determination; and advising the President of the Company on certifications the Company should require of Technicians and other employees and should gain as a whole.

I am passionate about the Federal Contracting Business; possess extremely detailed knowledge of the Presidential Directives, Federal Standards, and NIST Requirements as they relate to Physical Access Control and Cyber Security; possess extensive experience with—and certifications in—Government-approved Physical Security and Cyber Systems; have engaged with—and have relationships with—numerous Federal Customers from a variety of Agencies; bring comprehensive technical knowledge of how to design, install, test, and certify a Government Physical Access Control System; have extensive Project Management experience across a wide-range of Government Projects; and have acquired significant knowledge in Business Operations Management. I am a very professional and efficient employee who always puts the Customer's needs first.
